The 2005 Isuzu Ascender is a mid-size to full-size sport utility vehicle from Japanese automaker Isuzu. The 2005 model year lineup saw a major improvement to the engine structure with the introduction of a brand new 5.3L V-8 engine sporting Displacement on Demand as well as the traditional 4.2L Inline-6 engine.

The 2005 Isuzu Ascender with the 4.2L Inline-6 engine is capable of producing 275HP and 275FTLB of torque with a Double-Over-Head-Camshaft design while the 5.3L V-8 engine produces 300HP and 330FTLB of torque.

The EPA has estimated the 4.2L Inline-6 engine to attain 15mpg around the city and over 20mpg on the highway while the 5.3L V-8 is rated at 15mpg around the city and 19mpg on the highway. Displacement On Demand allows drivers to shut off half of the cylinders to improve fuel economy.
